Practices, challenges and improvements: an afternoon of reflection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

We are pleased to invite you to an afternoon of discussions on access to rights for children and young people, organised by OKAJU in partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg. <\/p>\n\n

Join us on 24 October 2024 at the Europa Experience Centre(17 Avenue John F. Kennedy, Luxembourg).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The event will begin at 1.45pm with a welcome for participants, followed by speeches by Mr Charel Schmit<\/strong> (Ombudsman fir Kanner a Jugendlecher) and Ms Elisabeth Margue<\/strong> (Minister of Justice). Isabel Wiseler-Lima<\/strong> MEP and Benoit Van Keirsbilck<\/strong>, member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, will speak on the importance of youth-friendly justice. <\/p>\n\n

A round table, moderated by Paul Demaret<\/strong>, will bring together various experts, including Odile Buchet<\/strong>, representatives of the Jugendparlament and the University of Luxembourg, Alexandra Huberty<\/strong> (Luxembourg District Court), and Nathalie Barth\u00e9l\u00e9my<\/strong> (member of the Luxembourg Bar). The day will close with a speech by Anne Calteux<\/strong>, the European Commission’s representative in Luxembourg, followed by a closing drink and a tour of the Europa Experience centre. <\/p>\n\n

This event will address access to justice for children, a key theme of General Comment No. 27 of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, which stresses the importance of appropriate and accessible mechanisms for all children.<\/p>\n\n

Access to the Centre<\/strong>Please show a valid form of identification<\/strong>. The centre is accessible by tram (European Parliament stop), train (Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg station) and bus (line 12, L\u00e9on Hengen stop). Parking is also available at Place de l’Europe. <\/p>\n\n
